Ways to get around almost all school blocks.

Post by Jordan Jereb on Sat May 28, 2011 4:42 pm

WARNING: This tutorial is for educational purposes only. I am not responsible for what you do with this info.

As an advocate for free speech and for freedom, I do NOT enjoy the ideas of internet censorship. What I hate even more is when I am doing something perfectly fine like checking my facebook and it is blocked at school for the idiotic reasons of the school administration regardless of what the masses of the body politic say to them. They do this under the guise of "Keeping kids safe online." when we obviously are smart enough to use a social networking site safely.

I present to you several ways to bypass the schools filters. Which in most cases is completely legal as Florida Statutes consider the creation of "Computer Contaminants" a crime. Since this is not the act of making a virus it is technically legal. But know that I cannot be certain even IF you live in Florida, so check the laws before you do it.

Now that I'm done with my preamble, here is the actual tutorial.

    Method 1: Proxies

Probably the best way to get around the blocks, proxies. They enable you to connect to a web server through an additional web server. Think of it like going to point B to get to point C, rather than going directly to point C (The target destination)

    Where do you find proxies?
    Proxy.org and google.

    Example proxy:
    http://browse007.com

    Method 2: SSL Browsing
If ALL the proxies are blocked, SSL browsing is your best bet. SSL sites can be used freely like youtube and facebook ONLY IF they haven't been blocked individually. SSL sites can be blocked, but they can only be blocked individually. So proxies that use SSL are just fine. To use SSL, you simply need to type "https://" in your adress rather than "http://".

    Example of an SSL site:

    https://youtube.com

    Example of an SSL proxy:
    https://browse007.com

Method 3: Use google as a proxy.
Google has the option in the search engine to open old archived versions of pages. This function is blocked by some filters... but it works on most of them.

Another thing you can do is go to google page translater. Simply set the translater to translate ANY language to english and type in the adress. This tactic will work, but it will not work well and should only be used as a last resort.

    The almost universally fool-proof plan?
SSL Proxies. They are your best bet. They cannot block every one because if they blocked ALL SSL then the internet would fail to load many websites. There is almost no way to block all SSL proxies. I know of 1 filter that can block proxy's by script, but that filter is a service for corperations and almost no schools use them. Even so, that filter will never pick up every script.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial... Thanks for reading!

    -Jordan.

Here are a couple proxies that shouldn't be blocked by your school filter:

They are just proxies but I'm not sure if they are SSL enabled or not.

You say they do it under the guise of safety, but they usually do it so you don't mess around while you should be doing your work. Also, proxies? You can use Google Translate to "translate" the webpage from any language into English. It doesn't matter what language it is really in, just do it French to English, or something. Then, visit the translated webpage. It is easy, and they would have to block Google to prevent you from using it.

    Nice method Lazer_X.

And yes, it is so you do your work....
But if they're just screwing around it's their own fault they fail that class.

Oh, and sometimes my computer teacher lets us play games but it's practically impossible to block all flash game sites.

Some at my school that aren't blocked:
    www.hybridarcade.com
    www.ponged.com
    www.roundgames.com
    www.bubbleshooter.net

I like how you specifically say to not put anything illegal on here, but the first tutorial you post is on something illegal.

I didn't put anything illegal on this website.
Even if the tutorial WAS how to do something illegal, it doesn't incite anyone to do so as the rules state not to do.

Oh, come on. That's like making a tutorial on how to make a blunt, but then saying that you didn't encourage anyone to do anything illegal.

Well this is America, and we have the right to make tutorials as long as we don't incite anyone to do something illegal.

    It's not promoting illegality.
Although it does say WARNING and all that good stuff I do understand what zombieman is trying to say.

I understand too. Although it is unlawful to use proxies in some areas, the rules of my forum state that your tutorials may not incite others to do illegal things.

EDIT: Hey, it's Tim, I fixed some grammar errors Very Happy.

Does anyone know the policies for school block avoidance in college? Or does nobody care?
